Resumo: | The Amazon rainforest is the world s largest tropical rainforest and concentrates a huge diversity of plants and animals, with many endemic. The construction of dams, the deforestation and the expansion of agricultural frontiers has represented threats to local biodiversity. Bees and wasps are key components of communities and for being very sensitive to environmental disturbances, require a specific preservation effort. The stingless bees are a tribe of the Apidae family widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the southern hemisphere. In this work, five species, belonging to four genera of Meliponini collected in the Amazon, were cytogenetically studied: Nannotrigona punctata, Scaptotrigona bipunctata, Partamona sp, Frieseomelitta sp1 e Frieseomelitta sp2 using classical and molecular techniques, aiming to increase knowledge about these organisms. The chromosome number for all genera was the same previously reported for other species of the same genera. Karyotypic formulas Nannotrigona punctata, obtained were ec 2K=6Ae+6ae+8Ai+10AM+2AMi+2Mit 2K=16A+4A +14A M M to e Scaptotrigona M 2k=2A+30A +2M to Partamona sp. and 2K=4A +2A +20A +4M+2M to bipunctata, ct for both species of Frieseomelitta. The number of CMA3 labelling sites obtained were not coincident with the number of markings observed for the 18S rDNA obtained by FISH technique, except for the species N. punctata, in which two CMA3+ markings and two 18S rDNA markings were found. By comparing the cytogenetic data and the correlation of these with the distribution patterns of the species N. punctata and S. bipunctata it was possible to observe patterns that help us understand the importance of preserving this area. |
