This research aims to evaluate the level of efficiency of public expenditures with education in the municipalities of the microregion of Juiz de fora/MG. The efficiency of public spending has been more and more present in academic work. This work is characterized as descriptive-exploratory with a quantitative approach. The data for the period 2005 to 2017 were collected in the mining index of Social Responsibility (IMRS). To meet the objectives of this study, an analysis of the data was initially performed through descriptive statistics, and the efficiency level of the municipalities in the microregion of Juiz de Fora was subsequently measured through the methodology analysis of Data – DEA, shortly after a comparison between the efficiency levels of the municipalities belonging to the Microregion was established. The results revealed that, in relation to the Ideb score of 1st to 5th year, the maximum efficiency score was achieved 16 times over the years analyzed by 7 different municipalities. Regarding the average of public spending with education versus the mean of Ideb 1 to 5 years, 3 municipalities obtained 100% efficiency. In the analysis for the Ideb from 6th to 9th grade, the maximum score was reached 19 times by 7 different municipalities, already on average, 4 municipalities reached the frontier of efficiency. Through the facts cited above, it is hoped that the study carried out can conceive an increase in the area of public spending by municipal managers, and if possible, contribute concretely to the expansion of the economic resources of public management of the municipality Studied.
