Resumo: It is known the bidirectional relationship between chronic diseases and COHC (Clinical Oral Health Conditions). However, it is necessary to understand the dentition role upon the well-being and daily life among the populations. The objective of this study was to investigate the COHC-related to quality of life among hypertensive and diabetic subjects linked to FHU (Family Health Units) from Alfenas, MG, through a household survey. This was a cross-sectional study with a random sample stratified by FHU, composed of 218 subjects. The response rate was 56.48%. Most participants (56.42%) have only hypertension; is female (67.43%) - mean age 64.83 (±11.99). There were not registered statistically significant differences for the variables among hypertensive, diabetic and hypertensive-diabetic. The average DMFT for the total sample was 27.16 (±6.15) with FS-T 8.53 (±10.12), T-Health 5.23 (±6.52) and dental care index 13.58%. There was no inequality in the caries distribution (SiC=32; Gini=0.12). Only 0.53 (±1.79) crowns are decayed. Thus, 92.96% of the examined elements do not require treatment. Regarding to periodontal status, 50.46% of subjects present calculation, 20.64% gingivitis, 33.49% shallow pockets and 6.42% deep pockets, 80.73% had at least one sextant excluded from the evaluation and 44, 95% are total edentulous. Thus, 85.78% of the sample uses prosthesis. The denture is the most common (58.72%). The upper arch supports more devices than the lower (ρ=0.000). However, 61.01% of the sample still needs some prosthesis. The highest demands are in the jaw (58.26%). Regarding the type, it predominates partial dentures needs (37.16%). The mean score recorded in the OHIP-14 was 5.37 (±4.95), with a preponderance of low impact (81.65%). Weak, but significant correlations were recorded between COHC and the OHIP-14. In general, the teeth presence proved to be associated with psychological effects (ρ<0.05). However, the greater the tooth loss and prosthesis extension, the greater is also the physical and social impacts (ρ<0.05). More effective prevention, conservation and rehabilitation strategies in the context of collective oral health are necessary in order those the cultures of tooth loss and ‘prothesism’ become extinct from the popular imagination and common sense.

Entretanto, faz-se necessário o entendimento acerca do papel que a dentição desempenha no bem-estar e na vida diária das populações. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o impacto das CCSB na qualidade de vida de hipertensos e diabéticos vinculados à USF (Unidades de Saúde da Família) de Alfenas/MG, através de um levantamento domiciliar. Tratou-se de um estudo transversal, com amostra randomizada, estratificada por USF, composta por 218 sujeitos. A taxa de resposta foi de 56,48%. A maioria dos sujeitos (56,42%) apresenta apenas HAS (Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica), é do sexo feminino (67,43%), com idade média de 64,83 (±11,99). Não se registrou diferenças estatisticamente significantes para as variáveis entre hipertensos, diabéticos e hipertenso-diabéticos. O CPOD médio para a amostra total foi de 27,16 (±6,15), com FS-T de 8,53 (±10,12), T-Health de 5,23 (±6,52) e índice de cuidados odontológicos de 13,58%. Não houve desigualdade na distribuição da cárie (SiC=32; Gini=0,12). Apenas 0,53 (±1,79) coroas encontram-se cariadas. Assim, não necessitam de tratamento 92,96% dos elementos examinados. Em relação à condição periodontal, 50,46% dos sujeitos apresentam cálculo, 20,64% gengivite, 33,49% bolsas rasas e 6,42% bolsas profundas, 80,73% apresentam pelo menos um sextante excluído da avaliação e 44,95% são edêntulos totais. Dessa forma, 85,78% da amostra usa prótese, sendo a PT (Prótese Total) a mais comum (58,72%). O arco superior sustenta mais aparelhos que o inferior (ρ=0,000). Porém, 61,01% da amostra ainda necessita de alguma prótese. As maiores demandas estão na mandíbula (58,26%). Em relação ao tipo, predominam as necessidades por próteses parciais (37,16%). O escore médio registrado para o OHIP-14 foi de 5,37 (±4,95), com predomínio do impacto fraco (81,65%). Correlações fracas, porém significativas foram registradas entre as CCSB e o OHIP-14. A presença de dentes (funcionais), de maneira geral, mostrou-se associada a impactos psicológicos (p<0,05). Entretanto, quanto maiores as perdas dentais e a extensão das próteses, maiores também são os impactos físicos e sociais (p<0,05). Estratégias mais efetivas de prevenção, conservação e reabilitação no âmbito da saúde bucal coletiva são necessárias a fim de que as culturas da perda dental e do ‘protesismo’ sejam extintas do imaginário popular e do senso comum.application/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências OdontológicasUNIFAL-MGBrasilFaculdade de Odontologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Saúde BucalEpidemiologiaQualidade de VidaAtenção Primária à SaúdeCIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIAImpacto de condições clínicas de saúde bucal na qualidade de vida de hipertensos e diabéticos no âmbito da Atenção Primária à Saúdeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion4673435736271820140600600-2070498469879244349reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALOliveira, Eduardo José PereiraLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
