Resumo: | The mining activity, beyond positively influence the economic and social development of the country presents a major environmental liabilities: wastewater rich in sulfate. Better known as Acid Mine Drainage, AMD, these wastewaters are from most of the time, mining of coal and heavy metals where the mineral sulfides are oxidized naturally sulphate and the main features low pH and high concentrations metals. There are several treatments for AMD, being physical, chemical and biological. Physicochemical methods consist of neutralization and precipitation of heavy metals, with high operating costs. Already biological methods are an excellent alternative for the treatment and remediation of AMD, because through anaerobic reactors, promote the reduction of sulfate and the recovery of metals. In this study, a horizontal anaerobic fixed bed reactor was used, HABR, for the bioremediation of synthetic AMD, having its interior filled with polyurethane foam for immobilization of biomass and ethanol as carbon source, relationship between the chemical oxygen demand, and sulfate, COD/SO42- and hydraulic retention time, TDH, 24 and 36 hours. Throughout this experiment was varied conditions with respect to concentration of COD and SO42-, HRT and filler metals. The pH, SO42-, sulfide, COD and metals, were very satisfactory in relation to the reactor performance for all operating phases. Increasing the HRT of 24 to 36 hours, it was observed that the removal efficiency values were significant compared with the previous stages. Thus, the study demonstrated its effectiveness for treating AMD in a synthetic HABR, achieving high removal values. |

Mais conhecidas como Drenagem Ácida de Minas, DAM, essas águas residuárias são oriundas na maioria das vezes, da mineração de carvão e metais pesados, onde os minerais de sulfetos são oxidados de maneira natural a sulfato tendo como principais características o baixo pH e elevadas concentrações de metais. Diversos são os tratamentos para a DAM, sendo eles físico-químicos e biológicos. Os métodos físico-químicos consistem na neutralização e precipitação dos metais pesados, apresentando elevado custo operacional. Já os métodos biológicos são uma excelente alternativa para o tratamento e remediação da DAM, pois através de reatores anaeróbios, promovem a redução do sulfato e a recuperação dos metais. Nesse estudo, foi utilizado um reator anaeróbio horizontal de leito fixo, RAHLF, para a biorremediação da DAM sintética, tendo seu interior preenchido com espuma de poliuretano para imobilização da biomassa e o etanol como fonte de carbono, relação entre a Demanda Química de Oxigênio e Sulfato, DQO/SO42- de 1 e Tempo de Detenção Hidráulica, TDH, de 24 e 36 horas. Ao longo do experimento variou-se as condições da alimentação, com relação a concentração de DQO e SO42-, TDH, bem como adição de metais. As análises de pH, SO42-, sulfeto, DQO e metais, foram muito satisfatórias em relação ao desempenho do reator para todas as fases de operação. Aumentando-se o TDH de 24 para 36 horas, observou-se que os valores na eficiência de remoção, foram significativos quando comparados com as fases anteriores. Dessa maneira, o estudo mostrou-se eficiente para o tratamento da DAM sintética em um RAHLF, alcançando elevados valores de remoção.application/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciência e Engenharia AmbientalUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciência e Tecnologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/BiorremediaçãoMinas – DrenagemÁguas residuaisTratamento anaeróbioENGENHARIA SANITARIA::TRATAMENTO DE AGUAS DE ABASTECIMENTO E RESIDUARIASRemoção de metais provenientes de drenagem ácida de minas em reator anaeróbio horizontal com biomassa imobilizadaMetals removal from acid mine drainage in horizontal anaerobic immobilized biomassinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-4297417259498638931600600-4957377345672117885reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALMelo Júnior, Omar Mendes DeLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
