Resumo: | This work consisted in an evaluation of an UASB reactor treating synthetic acid mine drainage by different operation strategies. Two identical reactors were tested, wherein their operation were differentiated by the carbon source, using ethanol – RE and lactate – RL. The variations were: affluent pH, varying from 3.0 (phase I), to 3.5 (phase II) and 4.0 (phase III) and in the COD/Sulfate ratio, being 2.0 in the three initials phases and reduced by COD variation to 1.5 (phase IV) and 0.8 (phase V). For RE pH changes didn’t cause big variations, wherein the average values of phases I, II and III are: effluent pH 5.03, COD removal 34%, sulfate removal 88%, production of sulfide 122 mg/L, alkalinity 101 mg/L, acetic acid 127.7 mg/L and H2S 1.5 E-03 mol/L. The COD reduction caused a lower SRB activity in RE, which average removal went from 87% (phase III) to 58% (phase V), production of sulfide from 119 to 55 mg/L, alkalinity from 105 to 38 mg/L, acetic acid from 116 to 73 mg/L and H2S from 1.2 E-03 to 4.1 E-04 mol/L. The COD removal, however, present a increase from 29 to 48%, indicating that another group, other than SRB, started to consumption ethanol. There was no significant variation of effluent pH on last phases because the system was buffered by acetic acid. For RL the modifications had a positive or neutral, statistically speaking, impact, since on phase I there was no SRB activity due prevalence of the lactic acid in very acid pH. The modifications to the other phases (II, III, IV and V), had, respectively, the following averages results: pH: 4.6, 6.44, 7.15 and 7.66; COD removal: 19, 33, 46 and 54%; sulfate removal: 58, 70, 90 and 84%; sulfide: 67, 87, 127 and 124 ug/L; alkalinity: 101, 266, 287 e 225 mg/L; acetic acid: 55.7, 129.8, 127.7 and 34.1 mg/L. The H2S concentrations are influenced by pH on the concentration form phase, being: 9.0 E-04, 6.7 E-03 and 8.9 E-04, in which the “pulse” observed in phase III was due to pH. |

Foram testados dois reatores idênticos, sendo a operação deles diferenciada pela fonte de carbono, sendo etanol – RE e lactato – RL. As variações realizadas foram no pH afluente, alterando de 3,0 (fase I), para 3,5 (fase II) e 4,0 (fase III) e na relação DQO/Sulfato, sendo 2,0 nas três fases inicias e reduzida por meio da DQO para 1,5 (fase IV) e 0,8 (fase V). Para RE a variação de pH não ocasionou variações significativas, sendo os valores médios das fases I, II e III: pH efluente 5,03, remoções de DQO 34% e de sulfato 88%, produções de sulfeto 122 mg/L, de alcalinidade 101 mg/L, ácido acético 127,7 mg/L e de H2S 1,5 mmol/L. Já a redução de DQO causou uma menor atividade das BRS em RE, sendo que a remoção média de sulfato foi de 87% (fase III) para 58% (fase V), produção de sulfeto de 119 para 55 mg/L, de alcalinidade 105 para 38 mg/L, de ácido acético de 116 para 73 mg/L e H2S de 1,2 E-03 para 4,1 E-04 mol/L. A remoção de DQO, no entanto, apresentou um aumento de 29 para 48%, indicando que o consumo de etanol passou a ser realizado por um outro grupo que não as BRS. Como o sistema era tamponado pelo ácido acético, não houve variações significativas no pH efluente nas ultimas fases. Para RL as alterações tiveram efeito positivo ou indiferente estatisticamente, sendo que na fase I não havia atividade das BRS devido a prevalência da forma de ácido lático em pH muito ácido. As alterações para as demais fases (II, III, IV e V), tiveram, respectivamente, as seguintes respostas médias: pH: 4,6, 6,44, 7,15 e 7,66; remoção de DQO: 19, 33, 46 e 54%; remoção de sulfato: 58, 70, 90 e 84%; produção de sulfeto: 67, 87, 127 e 124 ug/L; produção de alcalinidade: 101, 266, 287 e 225 mg/L; ácido acético: 55,7, 129,8,137,7 e 34,1 mg/L. As concentrações de H2S sofrem influência do pH na determinação em sua fase de concentração, sendo medidas: 9,0E-04, 6,7E-03, 9,2E-04 e 8,9E-04, sendo que o “pulso”verificado na fase III foi devido ao pH.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais - FAPEMIGapplication/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciência e Engenharia AmbientalUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciência e Tecnologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Aguas residuaisMinas - DrenagemBiorremediaçãoENGENHARIA SANITARIA::TRATAMENTO DE AGUAS DE ABASTECIMENTO E RESIDUARIASEfeito do pH, relação DQO/Sulfato e fonte de carbono na biorremediação de drenagem ácida de minas sob condições ácidas em reator UASBEffect of pH, COD / sulfate ratio and carbon source in acid mine drainage bioremediation under acidic conditions in UASB reactorinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-4297417259498638931600600600-4957377345672117885-1527361517405938873reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALAcerbi, Karl WagnerLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
