Resumo: The present work aims to study cinematographic works from North American entertainment industry (Hollywood) in search of relating elements of formal and structural composition of cinema with psychoanalytical theories and concepts, aiming to investigate the intentional use of emotional manipulation techniques by the audience. To achieve the objective proposed, we have analyzed, in increasing order of complexity: (1) the cinematographic medium, its forms and its study approaches; (2) the cultural approach to film analysis; (3) the structuring elements of the film narrative construction; (4) theories about narrative structure and the emotional involvement generated by storytelling (5) the psychoanalytical reading of cinema and its main concepts and, finally; (6) the technical literature of emotional manipulation exposed by participants in the North American film industry. The analysis of cinematographic works, with their respective theoretical crossings, allows us to formulate the argument that screenplay technical elements are tools that Hollywood scriptwriters intentionally use to produce the greatest emotional impact possible on viewers, triggering three psychic processes described through psychoanalysis - empathy, identification and catharsis - which constitute the very structuring sequence of the cinema narrative. The analyzes presented in this thesis contribute to the field of interdisciplinary studies as they establish relationships between psychic reception of cultural products - as cinema - and social history.

Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, são analisados, em ordem crescente de complexidade: (1) o meio cinematográfico, suas formas e suas abordagens de estudo; (2) a abordagem cultural de análise cinematográfica; (3) os elementos estruturantes da construção narrativa fílmica; (4) as teorias sobre estrutura narrativa e o envolvimento emocional gerado pelo "o narrar histórias (Storytelling); (5) a leitura psicanalítica do cinema e seus principais conceitos; e, por fim; (6) a literatura técnica de manipulação emocional exposta por participantes da indústria cinematográfica norte-americana. A análise de obras cinematográficas, com seus respectivos cruzamentos teóricos, permite formular o argumento de que os elementos técnicos de roteirização são ferramentas que roteiristas hollywoodianos usam, de forma intencional, para produzir o maior impacto emocional possível no espectador, acionando três processos psíquicos descritos pela psicanálise - a empatia, a identificação e a catarse - que constituem a própria sequência estruturante da narrativa do cinema: As análises apresentadas nesta tese contribuem para o campo de estudos interdisciplinares na medida em que estabelecem relações
