Resumo: | Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a disorder of neurodevelopment characterized by the presence of a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes in both the functioning and development of the individual. Due to differences in presentation, high rates of comorbidities, and variability of children's performance in the assessment instruments, it is difficult to diagnose. However, neuropsychological evaluation can contribute to characterize this disorder, aiding the assessment, diagnosis and treatment. The purpose of the present study was to verify the cognitive profile of children aged 8 to 11 years who were referred for neuropsychological evaluation by physicians, psychologists and speech therapists under suspicion of ADHD. To accomplish this goal, 24 children underwent the evaluation, which was divided and four meetings: (1) Initial anamnesis with the parents, and completion of the SNAP-IV scale by parents and teachers; (2) Evaluation of the child with the WASI Scale and the WISC-IV Operational Memory Index subtests; (3) Application of FDT, TAC, Trails and TDE; and (4) Feedback for the parents. All instruments were corrected according to the instructions in their manuals. Regarding the symptoms of ADHD present on the SNAP-IV scale, moderate positive correlations were found between the different informants. The family observed more characteristics of hyperactivity/impulsivity in comparison to the teachers, whereas these identified more ADHD cases as positive than the parents. Although, on average, the participants' results for intellectual efficiency, operational memory, inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, processing speed and selective attention were within the range expected for the age, difficulties were identified on the different participants in each of the studied function, which confirms both the variability of the profile of children with symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity, and the complexity of the ADHD diagnosis |

Devido às diferenças nas apresentações, às altas taxas de comorbidades e à variabilidade de desempenho das crianças nos instrumentos de avaliação, é um quadro de difícil diagnóstico. No entanto, a avaliação neuropsicológica pode contribuir para caracterizar este transtorno, auxiliando na avaliação, diagnóstico e tratamento. O presente estudo teve como propósito verificar o perfil cognitivo de crianças com idades entre 8 e 11 anos encaminhadas para avaliação neuropsicológica por médicos(as), psicólogos(as) e fonoaudiólogos(as) sob suspeita de TDAH. Para cumprir esse objetivo, 24 crianças passaram pela avaliação, que foi dividida e quatro encontros: (1) Anamnese inicial com os responsáveis e preenchimento da escala SNAP-IV pelos responsáveis e professores; (2) Avaliação da criança com a Escala WASI e os subtestes que compõem o Índice de Memória Operacional da WISC-IV; (3) Aplicação dos instrumentos FDT, TAC, Trilhas e TDE; e (4) Devolutiva com os responsáveis. Todos os instrumentos foram corrigidos de acordo com as instruções que constam nos respectivos manuais. Em relação aos sintomas de TDAH presentes na escala SNAP-IV, foram encontradas correlações positivas moderadas entre os diferentes informantes. A família observou mais características de hiperatividade/impulsividade em comparação às professoras, enquanto que estas identificaram mais casos como positivos de TDAH que os pais. Ainda que, em média, os resultados obtidos pelos participantes para habilidade intelectual, memória operacional, controle inibitório, flexibilidade cognitiva, velocidade de processamento e atenção seletiva tenham ficado dentro da faixa esperada para a idade, foram identificadas dificuldades dos diferentes participantes em cada uma das habilidades estudadas, o que confirma tanto a variabilidade do perfil das crianças com sintomas de desatenção e hiperatividade, quanto a complexidade do diagnóstico do TDAH. No que diz respeito ao desempenho escolar, 66,7% dos participantes obtiveram resultado total abaixo do esperado. Desta forma, os resultados mais desviantes encontrados neste estudo referem-se ao desempenho escolar da amostra estudada.
