The theme of this research is relevant since it proposes to present an analysis of part of the literary work of Augusto dos Anjos, which can be used as an example and contributes to the understanding and construction of meaning of the poems. The objective was to perform an analysis of the animal figurations present in the literary work "Eu", composed by 58 poems, among them 43 sonnets. In this analysis, the construction process and the thematic elements of the poems "O morcego", "A um carneiro morto", "Asa de corvo", "O corrupião" and "Versos a um cão" were observed, which have the figure animal as representative of the theme. Initially, it was made the survey and the reading of academic studies that deal with the life and work of Augusto dos Anjos. The idea was to become aware of the type of approach that the poet receives from those who propose to study it; as there are numerous works, only four were consulted for this research. Then came the critical fortune that allowed the theoretical foundation, but which was also selected due to the large number of authors. The next step was to read and re-read the "Eu", with the purpose of identifying and selecting the poems that best meet the theme delimited here, which resulted in the corpus formed by the mentioned poems. Finally, the analyzes of the listed poems were carried out, starting from the observation of the elements present in the textual surface until arriving at the approach of the deeper structure of the texts, like the teachings of Antônio Cândido in "Na sala de aula".
