Resumo: This study examines the effects of the full-time school policy in Sobral-CE for middle school students on adolescent victimization both at home and at school. The analysis reveals two countervailing forces: while extended time at school may reduce exposure to domestic violence by limiting the time spent at home, it can also increase students\' vulnerability to school-based violence if the school environment is not sufficiently protective. The study utilizes original longitudinal data on adolescent victimization and the staggered rollout of the full-time school policy to assess the causal effects of extended school time on both school-related and domestic violence, employing a difference-in-differences approach that accounts for variation in treatment timing. Results indicate a decrease in both school-related and domestic physical victimization, with a reduction in the frequency of victimization (i.e., \"always happens\") but an increase in the incidence (i.e., \"happens at least once\"). The effects on psychological school-based victimization are ambiguous, varying across different samples (city vs. district level). Additionally, the results highlight an increase in the incidence of sexual violence at school, reported at least once. These findings suggest complex dynamics in the relationship between full-time schooling and adolescent victimization, warranting further investigation into the contextual factors that may influence these outcomes.
