Resumo: A natural problem that arises in the study of an algebraic system is that of representing the system as a. whole as a dirict product of simpler systems. A central question concerning that problem is: When is such a representation unique? The main objective of this work is to answer that question for some classes of algebras. We show that the class of the finite generalized groups with operators, the so-called finite Jonsson-Tarski algebras, and the class of the finite. Mal'cev algebras, algebras that have commuting congruence relations, have the unique factorization property; These and related results and the methods for obtaining them are presented and discussed.
