Encenação Tabajara (1975-2000): memórias, tendências e perspectivas no teatro de João Pessoa

It is a study of the theater practice in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba, in the last quarter of the twentieth century (1975-2000), through the analysis of journalistic documents, seeking to recognize and interpret the local trends and conceptions about theater practice and performance, involved in a set of thoughts about the relationship established between the dramaturgical text and scene. A panoramic sight of that production is carried out by a broad understanding of the concept of dramaturgy, not restricted to the dramaturgical text only, and also trough a sense of modern and contemporary theater, first of all, as an experience of staging. The historical narratives built on this paper are also based on a cartography in which the field research results are shown, involving a newspaper survey concerning plays produced in João Pessoa in the period scrutinized. The tradition of a staging in the city of João Pessoa, with its own characteristics, is formed next to another, the one that brings a regional theater with a popular feature, which can also be read as a predominant trend in the time frame analyzed, when it highlights the significant number of playwrights staging their own texts, as well as a strong presence of different literary texts on stage, far beyond dramaturgy. Finally, we conjecture about the deepening of specific issues related to the relationship between the dramaturgical text and staging, from the analysis of a set of five spectacles by Fernando Teixeira, understood as a „stage director-synthesis‟ of this period (1975-2000), reflecting on the theatrical production so called, on this study, “Tabajara scene”.
