Resumo: Inequality of income and opportunities is a classic challenge in the Brazilian labor market, with wide disparities between different social groups. Before the pandemic, problems were already being faced, such as unemployment, informality and social inequality, characteristic of structural factors, and which were worsened in the face of COVID-19. In this sense, in the current situation, the fact is that this process has contributed to the increase in thousands of unemployed people, who are racing against time in an attempt to stave off the harsh crisis. Given this paradigm, this work aims to analyze the generation of employment during the pandemic in the city of Campina Grande-PB through digital platforms, specifically, telemarketing workers who, in their previous statements obtained, indicate a different reality from this unemployment scenario. . To achieve this, we opted for the quantitative method through, initially, an exploratory review of references about the conditions on work and the organization of markets, the collection of secondary data made available in the Annual List of Social Information, General Register of Employed and Unemployed , as well as the systematization and mapping of data collected indicative of job creation, pointing out the number of vacancies created and filled during the pandemic period. Based on exploratory data analysis and inferential tests, such as the t-test for proportions and comparisons of the job generation rate in Campina Grande before and during the pandemic and Campina Grande in relation to cities of the same size of development, it was found that in Campina Grande, as well as in many other cities around the country, telemarketing notably increased its importance and demand during the pandemic. This trend is the result of several reasons that are a convenient alternative to receiving product information, making purchases and receiving support without leaving home. Despite the increase in the sector, it did not represent an increase in income generation for the city.

Despite the increase in the sector, it did not represent an increase in income generation for the city.
