Sugarcane breeding programs have been conducted with the objective of obtaining varieties resistant to disease, with high accumulation of sucrose and adaptation to different environments. In literature, there are few reports concerning the influence of different types and levels of hormone with phenotypic characteristics in the sugarcane culture. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to compare the hormonal profile of three sugarcane varieties and relate them to growth rate, maturity and susceptibility to disease. We analyzed different forms within the auxins, cytokinins, abscisic acid, jasmonic acid, gibberellins and salicylic acid hormone groups. It was possible to verify the relation between vegetative growth rate and GA1gibberellin and salicylic acid levels. We observed that the IAA-asp auxin could be related to disease susceptibility, while ABAGE, of the abscisic acid hormone group, can be related to the maturation period of sugarcane stalks. With this information regarding sugarcane hormonal profile, other fields, such as molecular biology, tissue culture and even plant breeding, can use them for future works, such as for the discovery of chemical and molecular markers, which may be related to sugarcane agronomic traits.
