This research aims to analyze how real estate capital is mobilized by economic and political agents in the production of urban space in a medium-sized city, using the municipality of Lavras, Minas Gerais, as a case study. The study investigates how intrafamily corporate relationships among companies operating in the local real estate market significantly influence urban space production.To this end, business groups that operate in an articulated manner, sharing family-based corporate structures, were identified and categorized. In addition to mapping these companies, the research examines their respective fields of activity and their influence on the urban development of Lavras.The results obtained allow for an in-depth analysis of the structure and role played by the two most influential business groups in the municipality and the region. Additionally, the study discusses the Cidade da Serra project, a proposal for the creation of a new center and a new centrality for Lavras. The project, aligned with strategies for maximizing profits from urban space, emerges as a competing hub against the traditional city center and other already consolidated centralities, impacting the spatial, temporal, and social dynamics of the municipality.
