Resumo: | This work seeks to contribute to the reflection on education by analyzing the jesuitical formation, in particular the missionary Jesuit in Portuguese America in the 16th century. Firstly, based on the adopted reference, a reading of the initial documents of Jesuit formation, period letters, theater and other documents was sought, as well as a study of the context, in order to identify the initial formation of the member of the Society of Jesus and his transformations owing to the missionary action. The Jesuit is primarily formed in the Spiritual Exercises. Singular work of the founder of the Society of Jesus, Ignatius of Loyola, the Exercises seek to direct the will of the exerciser, so that he himself seeks to follow in the path that is pointed out. Thus, there is an internal movement of persuasion proposed by the Exercises in which, the greater the inner adhesion by who is practicing, the more effective it is. The Autobiography of Ignatius of Loyola, in its turn, was also written by the founder with pedagogical purpose, making the Society of Jesus member have in the idealization of Loyola`s person, a reference for his directed and uniform action. Another important document in the Jesuitical formation, the Constitutions of the Society of Jesus, serves to this standardization of the action and the regulation of the behavior. The Jesuit formed in this sense and in the context of Humanism, the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Reformation, sought to act in conformity with this formation and worldview, through a pedagogy of the convincing of a free will, which he sought to conquer by persuasion and also by the use of force. In order to do this, he became a missionary in Portuguese America, where, in formal and informal education, in the schools and in the context of the villages, he experienced misunderstandings and divergences. This fact did not annul his formation, but complemented it, albeit in an unpredictable way, allowing to identify in the meetings and disagreements of the Jesuitical missionary activity in Portuguese America, in the cultural conflicts, in the formal and informal education, a pedagogical action originated from this relational action. |

Com base no referencial adotado, buscou-se uma leitura dos documentos iniciais da formação jesuítica, das cartas do período, teatro e outros documentos, além de um estudo do contexto, a fim de identificar a formação inicial do membro da Companhia de Jesus e suas transformações quando da ação missionária. O jesuíta, primeiramente, é formado nos Exercícios Espirituais. Obra singular do fundador da Companhia de Jesus, Inácio de Loyola, os Exercícios buscam direcionar a vontade do exercitante, de modo que ele mesmo procure seguir no caminho que lhe é apontado. Assim, há um movimento de persuasão interna que é proposto pelos Exercícios e que é tanto mais eficaz, quanto maior a adesão interior daquele que o pratica. A Autobiografia de Inácio de Loyola, por sua vez, também foi escrita pelo fundador com objetivo pedagógico, fazendo com que o membro da Companhia de Jesus tenha na idealização da pessoa de Loyola, um referencial para seu agir direcionado e uniforme. Outro documento importante na formação jesuítica, as Constituições da Companhia de Jesus, serve a essa uniformização do agir e à regulação do comportamento. O jesuíta formado nesse sentido e no contexto do Humanismo, da Reforma Protestante e da Reforma Católica, buscou agir em conformidade com essa formação e visão de mundo, por meio de uma pedagogia do convencimento de uma vontade livre, a qual procurou conquistar pela persuasão e também pelo uso da força. Para isso, tornou-se missionário na América Portuguesa, onde, na educação formal e informal, nos colégios e no contexto das aldeias, vivenciou desencontros e divergências. Esse fato não anulou sua formação, mas a complementou, ainda que de forma não previsível, fazendo com que se possa identificar nos encontros e desencontros da atividade missionária jesuítica na América Portuguesa, nos embates culturais, na educação formal e informal, uma ação pedagógica originada desse agir relacional.application/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em EducaçãoUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciências Humanas e Letrasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/EducaçãoCatolicismoJesuítasAmérica PortuguesaEDUCACAO::FUNDAMENTOS DA EDUCACAOFormação pedagógica do jesuíta missionário na América Portuguesa no século XVIinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-1922309773983257291600600-4642173182807654213reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALPrado, Wilson Da SilvaLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
